Discerning Women's Mission in the Church

On March 24th, at 3:30pm in room TB D we will be partaking in a conversation in the Spirit on the recent Final Document from the Synod on Synodality, specifically women in the mission of the Church and the diaconate. All students are welcome! Please arrive promptly.

What is a conversation in the Spirit? ‘Conversation in the Spirit’, or Spiritual Conversation, is an ancient practice of the Church. A prayerful method, it allows for space for the Holy Spirit as well as voices usually not heard and can be used for faith sharing, difficult conversations, or when lots of creativity or ideas are needed.

Our conversation will be centered on Paragraph 60 of the Final Document from the recent Synod on Synodality- which you can read here (Paragraph 60, which is the only one we will focus on for this event, is on page 22). This document is part of the ordinary Magisterium of the Successor of Peter- received last fall. The paragraph discusses women’s roles in the Catholic Church and the need for discernment regarding the diaconate.

Following our conversation and a brief lesson on the diaconate, attendees will have the opportunity to complete a survey that is collecting data for a synthesis report for the Vaitcan Synod Office this year.

All are welcome to take part in this conversation! Questions can be directed to Campus Minister Lucia at Lpasternak@Kean.edu.
